Making Eyeshadow: Comparison between Aromaleigh and Lime Crime

I do not want to argue semantics, but there has been a lot of controversy over the makeup company Lime Crime. A lot of people believe she just repackages. On November 4th she released a video as a rebuttal, stating she does not. However, she still doesn't get into specifics so its difficult to tell one way or another. But whatever the truth really is, I do not buy from her mainly because of her $12 price tags when I can find hundreds more vibrant colors at Aromaleigh.com! Oh and all the icky ingredients Ive noticed in LC products. Those alone make it hard to believe Doe Deere makes them herself, because so many of those ingredients are unneccesary especially when made in small loving batches.....but anyway, that all is beside the point. I'm going to post links to a video of Doe Deere making her eyeshadow, and Kristen's new video where she also makes eyeshadow.

I do not want to persuade or sway my viewers based upon my opinion, or tell them what to think. But just watch both, and you will see the difference between the two companies. Enjoy!

  2. Tally - Thanks for the comments! Im glad you were able to try LC out and that it wasnt a regrettable purchase! I never understood why people got into saying her products were poor quality. If they were then buying from TKB (like she is thought to do) would be bad too lol. I think it got out of hand and the point was lost. It was meant to be about her seeming dishonesty in my opinion. From what Ive seen they looked pretty wearable but Im a penny pincher so I wont buy. I have very few full size anything! Also the ingredients scared me quite a bit. I try to be as natural as I can so theres not much point in buying from her when I can get more natural products at a lower cost and equal color payout! :)

  4. The lippies are what I was referring to. I should have specified that since the topic was about eyeshadow making lol I know not all Aromaleighs products are natural either but most arent even created by her, such as the Indelibles. *shrug* I try and strike a balance! I have cut out nasty chemical cleaners in general but when I am trying to say...deep clean my carpet, some chemicals are a must to get stains up that my son put there LOL Im still in the early stages of my "transition" to a more green lifestyle :)

Im curious to hear more from you though, especially about AL. Im also interested in hearing from everyone because some times there I things you just dont figure out on your own. I dont like witch hunts, but sharing an opinion is always welcome and helpful! My profile has my email in it if you ever want to write without having to leave a random comment somewhere ^_^ Thanks again!

  9. There is a lot of drama, its crazy! I am fairly new to the makeup world in regards to being an adult and researching. Ive always worn some to cover blemishes, and my friends got me into mascara and eyeliner. Then of course all the goofy eyeshadow gift sets at Christmas LOL So now that Im really getting out there as an adult and searching for stuff, Im amazed by all the drama! Of course, lately it seems everywhere I go or whatever I do, there is drama. I was so excited to become an adult, but Ive noticed high school seems tame in comparison! lol
